post Tom Green’s House Tonight

tomgreen_new.jpg

I’ve been following this since it first aired, i had seen a few of his episodes before it went to TV but really it wasn’t something i paid attention to, now that its on comedy channel at 10pm every night i’ve made it a bit of a ritual, but now that i’ve seen i can actual download episodes straight from tomgreen.com, it’s making things a lot easier!

he’s managed to get some pretty classy guests and is doing a great job of focusing on his guests more than himself, which must be hard for a man like Tom Green.

he has induced some oddities like creating one after hours show that was done by him using a alter ego “Rick Fitzgibens”, a fairly large percentage of that episode was with him talking to a empty studio and trying to coax his two dogs annie and steve (steve being female) to stay in his usual guests chairs. all is fun during this episode and would be very boring to anyone that is not a Tom Green fan. He also orders a pizza and talks to the delivery man whom cannot speak much english for a fair bit of the episode.

the older episodes aren’t kept online anymore so the best i can do is post tonights episode. a interview with Rob Schneider and Haylie Duff. there are a few other episodes up on tomgreen.com, as well.

another year has passed, another stone thrown into that deep pond we sometimes like to call life. anyways i have turned 28 today, February 20th. i also share this birthday with Cyndy Crawford, Kurt Cobain and the unfortunate suicide of Hunter S Thompson, one of my own personal heroes.

the celestial world has granted me a gift this evening by creating a lunar eclipse, Nasa and the US Navy have celebrated my birthday by shooting a defunct sattelite out of the sky (read thread below) and i was subject to many birthday wishes, calls and cards.

do i feel older? not at all, for some reason last years 27th birthday seemed to be more of a calamity for me. i’m not exactly sure why, perhaps because it seems to be aiming into the upper end of the 20’s, now i doubt i will be concerned til i am 30, maybe not. who knows.

anyways to celebrate my own birthday i will be doing very little since i am lacking a healthy amount of sleep and for some reason i can’t see this supposed lunar eclipse at all. infact there is no moon at all, perhaps it already happened? who knows.

if anyone saw it, let me know, i’d like to see some pictures.

here is a image of me as a very tiny child. not sure how many years ago this was.

Hello Kitty AR-15 – evil black rifle meets cute and cuddly

So called “Assault Weapons Bans” such as the now expired 1994 Clinton ban and the one still in place in states such as California seek to ban rifles that our misguided legislators feel have no purpose in civilian hands. They identify “evil features” they can use to generically classify these “military style” weapons in sweeping terms. Of course these features, such as plastic pistol grips, barrel shrouds, and bayonet lugs have absolutely nothing to do with the firearms potential lethality in the real world and are merely cosmetic features. After all, it really doesn’t matter what color the firearm is if it fires the same ammunition right? Well, in the “spirit” of the California Assault Weapon Ban I decided to do my best to alleviate the fears of my fellow citizens and gun-banning legislators when I put together a new AR-15 for my wife. Below is the result of my painstaking work to transform an Evil Black Rifle (EBR) into a Cute Pink RIfle (CPR). Introducing the Hello Kitty AR-15!

post Space Junk and the particles from the sky.

February 19th, 2008

Filed under: news and politics — Paradox @ 8:36 pm

recent activity on the news has shown that the US Navy will be attempting to shoot a defunct satelite. this will be taking place perhaps tommorow evening which also co-insides with a lunar eclipse (and my birthday) it should be a interesting night to look up into the heavens, i hope the sky is clear.

after looking into some basic info online about this operation i came across some pictures of the documented space “Junk” that is floating around out there and holy jesus! is there ever a lot of it. it’s amazing shuttles ever manage their way through that tangled web of junk on their way to plant even more.

space garbage

There are nearly ten thousand man-made objects larger than a softball in Earth orbit. Of these, only seven percent are operational satellites. The remaining ninety-three percent consists of dead satellites, rocket fragments and debris. While these objects are generally very far apart, their presence and great velocity can potentially interfere with space missions and even threaten the lives of astronauts – a tiny speck of paint from a satellite once dug a quarter-inch hole in a space shuttle window. North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has been tracking these objects since 1961. Today, before every critical launch, analysts perform a collision avoidance test to make sure the mission will not cross paths with any of these objects.

post Breaking Bad

Filed under: movies and tv — Paradox @ 3:39 am

i’m sure there’s atleast a few other people out there watching this show on AMC, i got into it pretty much when the first episode aired and found it to be fairly interesting. originally i was thinking it would be more of a comedy. after watching episode two and three those original thoughts were disolved. it is infact a very, very dark comedy/drama about a man who finds out he has lung cancer and decides to quit his job at a local highschool to make meth with a ex-student.

anyways i am pretty sure episode 4 is on tonight, and if you haven’t managed to view any of the episodes AMC occasionally shows the first few back to back throughout the week. so keep tuned in, or just download from your nearest torrent/stream site.

i’d give it about a 4/5 overall, the acting and general story is amazing for something created during the writers strike.

Lee Dorsey (born Irving Lee Dorsey). December 24, 1924December 1, 1986) [1] was an Afro-American pop/R&B singer during the 1960s. Much of his best work was produced by Allen Toussaint with instrumental backing provided by The Meters.

[edit] Career

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dorsey moved to Portland, Oregon when he was ten years old. He served in the United States Navy and began a career in prizefighting. Boxing as a light heavyweight in Portland in the early 1950s, he fought under the name “Kid Chocolate” and was quite successful.

Dorsey met songwriter/producer Allen Toussaint at a party in the early 1960s, and was signed to the Fury record label. The song that launched his career was inspired by a group of children chanting nursery rhymes [2] – “Ya Ya” went to number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1961. He recorded other songs for Fury before the label folded, and Lee went back to his car repair business.

Toussaint later came back on the Amy label and began to work with Dorsey once again. From 1965 to 1969 Dorsey put seven songs in the Hot 100, the most successful of which was “Working In The Coal Mine” in 1966. It was to be his second and last Top Ten song. In 1970 Dorsey and Toussaint collaborated on an album entitled Yes We Can; the title song was Dorsey’s last entry in the singles chart.

Dorsey appeared on an album with Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, which led to more recordings on his own with ABC Records in the late 1970s.

Dorsey contracted emphysema and died in New Orleans in 1986, at the age of 61.

Dorsey’s songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Petula Clark (“Ya Ya Twist,” a 1962 French version of “Ya Ya”) and Devo (“Working In The Coal Mine”).

He is referenced in the Beastie Boys‘ song lyrics for “Sure Shot” – “…everything I do is funky like Lee Dorsey.”

Isharie Holden is the youngest of his 32 children.

DEKALB, Illinois (CNN) — A gunman dressed in black stepped from behind a curtain at the front of a large lecture hall at Northern Illinois University on Thursday and shot 21 people, five of them fatally, then turned shot and killed himself, said university president John Peters.

Rescue workers carry a victim from Cole Hall Thursday after a gunman shot 21 people during a geology class.

Four died at the scene, including the shooter, and two later died at the hospital, he said.

At least 22 people, including a graduate student who was teaching an ocean sciences class, were shot, Peters said.

Seventeen victims were taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital, its Web site said.

Of those, six were in critical condition and were flown to other hospitals. One fatality, a male, was confirmed — but was not the gunman, the hospital said. Two were admitted, and three others were discharged. The other five were not addressed on the Web site.

Four of the fatalities were female, said Peters.

Most of the injuries are head and chest gunshot wounds, a hospital spokeswoman told CNN.

The gunman started shooting from a stage in the room shortly after 3 p.m. (4 p.m. ET) in Cole Hall, officials said.

Police Chief Donald Grady said authorities do not yet know of a motive.

They know the identity of the gunman but have not released his name, Grady added.

The shooter was a graduate student at NIU in the spring of 2007. Currently he was not enrolled there but, Grady said, “He may have been a student elsewhere.”

Kevin McEnery said he was in the classroom when the gunman, dressed in a black shirt, dark pants and black hat, burst in carrying a shotgun. Photo See photos of the scene »

“He just kicked the door open, just started shooting,” said McEnery, who was in the class at the time. “All I really heard was just people screaming, yelling ‘get out.’ … Close to 30 shots were fired.” Video Watch a student describe the chaos at the scene »

There are about 162 registered students in the class that met in the large lecture hall.

A student described the classroom as having four exits – two at the front and two at the rear. “Witnesses say someone dressed in black came out from behind a screen in the front of the classroom and opened fire with a shotgun,” Peters said.

At 3:03 p.m., NIU police responded, and four minutes later, the campus was ordered into “a lockdown situation,” Grady said.

At 3:20, an all-campus alert went out via the campus Web site, e-mail, voice mail, the campus crisis hotline, the news media and various alarm systems, he said.

Don’t Miss

“The message basically was: There’s a gunman on campus, stay where you are, make yourself as safe as possible,” he said.

Rosie Moroni, a student at the school, told CNN she was outside Cole Hall near the King Commons when she heard shots coming from the classroom she was heading to.

The shot was followed by “a lot of people screaming,” then people ran out the doors yelling, “He’s got a gun, call 9-1-1,” she said.

“It was complete chaos. It’s very scary here right now.”

By 4 p.m., DeKalb police had swept the area “and determined there was only one gunman” and that he was dead.

Grady said the man used three guns: a shotgun, a Glock handgun and a small-caliber handgun, and was still on the stage when he turned one of the guns on himself. The small-caliber handgun has not been recovered, he said.

The shooter started with a shotgun, then switched to a handgun, said Grady.

A spokesman for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives told CNN that agents were on the scene, and could help trace the weapon or weapons used. Peters said the FBI is processing the crime scene and ATF was interviewing witnesses Thursday.

Events and classes were canceled until further notice, Peters said.

Seven counseling areas were set up throughout the campus, and hotlines were established.

Security around campus was increased in December when police found threats scrawled on a campus bathroom wall that included racial slurs and references to last April’s Virginia Tech shootings. Learn about other recent school shootings »

One of the threats said “things will change most hastily” in the final days of the semester.

Peters said there is no evidence that points to a link between the December incident and Thursday’s shooting.

Grady said it was unlikely authorities could have prevented Thursday’s tragedy. “As much as we do, it’s unlikely that anyone would ever have the ability to stop an incident like this from beginning,” he said.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich declared a state of emergency, which will open the governor’s disaster fund to reimburse local government entities for “extraordinary expenses related to the response in NIU DeKalb” and will allow the state Emergency Management Agency to provide assistance, the governor’s office said in a statement.

The 113-year-old school is 65 miles west of downtown Chicago and has an enrollment of more than 25,000. The campus covers 755 acres. See a map of where the shooting took place » E-mail to a friend E-mail to a friend
